It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything about Lycos and even longer since I’ve actually used it. Lycos is an older search engine that is apparently still up and going and bringing in around 12 to 15 million monthly unique visitors in the United States alone.
Reports are that an Indian marketing company named Ybrant Digital has made the purchase. They bought Lycos from a Korean company named Daum who had purchased Lycos from the Spanish telecommunications company Terra back in 2004 for $95.4 million.
In 2000, during the height of the Internet boom, Terra bought Lycos for $12.5 billion.
